My Story

If I could describe my life in one word, it would be 180 (okay, I know that is a number, can it still count?).

I have completely changed the way I eat.  Up until my sophomore year of high school, I had never eaten any fruit or vegetables.  My diet for years consisted of pasta with butter, nothing else could be on it, grilled cheese sandwiches, cheese pizza, chicken fingers (and no, I would not even eat a grilled chicken breast, it had to be the breaded fingers), plain cheese quesadilla, pretzels, chips, goldfish, oh and peanut butter sandwiches.  I was the absolute pickiest eater on the planet, okay, maybe I still am insanely picky about my food and preparation, but I have drastically improved.  Everything had to be plain, simple, and basically have no nutritional value.

I never battled weight issues, even with the ridiculous food I was eating.  I have a petite family, so I have always been a petite chick.  I have always been in athletics too, I was a competitive gymnast 5 years and cheerleader for 7 years, but even being in good shape I realized things had to change.  It was my sophomore year of high school and I remember thinking to myself, "I don't want to be "eating chicken fingers on my honeymoon." I had my mom schedule me an appointment with a nutritionist for my birthday.  Yup, it was my birthday present.  I was that determined and excited to see a nutritionist.  This is when I started to realize my passion for health and well being.

It was one of the best decisions I ever made.  She gave me a diagnosis.  She said, "YOU ARE ADDICTED TO SALT."  Which I never realized, but it was totally true.  All my boxed chicken fingers, chips, goldfish, and frozen pizzas... are all loaded with sodium.  I became more interested in food.

It was still a slow evolution.  I began by making the things I already was eating, but by scratch.  For example, I would make a pizza bagel on a whole wheat bagel, homemade mac and cheese with wheat pasta, and my famed peanut butter sandwiches were now on wheat bread with organic peanut butter.  Then there was the big break through.... I tried my first apple.... and it was pretty good!

After that point I just continued to try more things, and honestly there is so much more to life than chicken fingers...

todays lunch looks 1,000 times better to me than any frozen microwavable pizza...
I'd much rather this make my food baby

Now I enjoy exploring and enjoying the amazing, nutritious, and delicious food pleasures of life.

I even dabbled into the baking world, which I absolutely am obsessed with.  I love creating new things and enjoying them.

(This is me during my summer trip, learning about the pastry world in San Fran...
what can I say, I am obsessed)

Currently,... I am a college student enjoying health, fitness, sweets, and filling up my food baby with the super food it deserves.
